PASSAGES TO HEAVEN

• Tamatsukuri Art Festival Shimane, Japan 2004
• “Passages to Heaven” is a 2004 installation for the Tamatsukuri Art Festival in Shimane, Japan. It consists of a single-lane of bamboo poles rising up the exterior stairs of the city’s social center. The form recalls “yalai,” the traditional frames constructed in paddy fields to hold rice while it dries. (800 pieces of 8-meter long bamboo)
